Marion Jewel McKinnon, known affectionately as "Mama," passed away peacefully at home on July 13, 2024, at the age of 79 in Hampton, Virginia. Born on August 14, 1944, in Newport News, Marion was a cherished member of the community, remembered for her vibrant spirit and loving nature. Marion dedicated 19 years of her life as a greeter at Walmart in Hampton, where she brought joy and warmth to everyone she met. Her genuine love for people was evident in her daily interactions with co-workers and customers alike. She was a devoted mother to her daughter, Tracy LeSage, and a beloved figure to many, including her adored family members. Marion was preceded in death by her parents, Anna P. Jewel and Robert A. Jewel. A special note of gratitude is extended to her dear friend, Annette, who provided invaluable support during the last three years of Marion’s life. Her granddogs, Jesse and Tate, were also a significant part of her life, often found by her side. Marion had a passion for flowers, enjoyed trips to Vegas, and was an avid sports fan. She cherished any activity that involved her daughter, Tracy, including coloring and watching sports together. A celebration of Marion's life will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 22nd, at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, located at 2551 North Armistead Avenue in Hampton. Heartfelt Thank You to Steven and Legacy Hospice, which provided exceptional care and support during her final months. Marion's life was a testament to the beauty of simple pleasures and the importance of family and friends. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew her.
