John Wade Wainwright

John Wade Wainwright, 85, went home to be with his Savior on July 20, 2020. He was born on May 26, 1935 in Snow Hill, North Carolina to Jessie and Eva Wainwright. John worked in the Newport News Shipyard from 1957 to 1995 and retired after 38 years. He spent his retired years enjoying his family who were his “precious gems”. John was predeceased by his treasured young son, John Wade Wainwright, Jr. and his beloved son-in-law, William J. Jowers, Sr. (husband of Joyce Yvonne). He is survived by his dedicated and loving wife, Joyce Ramona of Newport News and his two daughters, Joyce Yvonne Jowers of Gloucester, VA and Patricia Denise Hewitt of Yorktown, VA. His grandchildren; William J. Jowers, Jr. (wife, Nicole), Christine D. Starnes (husband, Troy), Julie Y. Jowers (husband, Antonio), David S. W. Latta (wife, Megan) and Jenna D. Jowers ( husband, Joshua). His great-grandchildren; Ford, Darrell, Parker, Destiny, Aubree, Sophie and Zoe. He is also survived by many more family members and friends. A Celebration of his life will be held at 12:00pm Friday, July 24 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home with interment to follow.
