OBITUARY
Harold Moore, Jr.
16 April, 1955 – 16 September, 2018
IN THE CARE OF
Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home & Memorial Park
It is with great sadness that the family of Harold Moore, Jr. announce his passing on Sunday, September 16, 2018. Hal will be cherished forever by his wife of 40 years, Margaret (Meg) Moore; his children, David and Victoria Moore; his daughter-in-law, Ashley; his two granddaughters, Lucy and Annie; as well as his parents, Gloria and Harold Moore Sr., and his brother, Brian.
Hal was born in Wakefield, Virginia but, as the son of an Army Master Sergeant (retired), he lived all over the U.S. and even overseas during his childhood. He returned to Virginia for college and was a proud graduate of the University of Virginia. Following his graduation, he served in the United States Marine Corps, reaching the rank of Captain, before pursuing a career in corporate sales and training, eventually launching his own training company.
Hal will be most remembered for the energy, enthusiasm and dedication that he brought to every endeavor. He was an outstanding musician who loved to perform and entertain, whether it was reeling off complex jazz riffs on his alto sax or starting an impromptu jam session with the bag of harmonicas he almost always carried with him. Hal also, after years of careful consideration, became a member of Fairlington United Methodist and played a vital role in revitalizing the Men’s Ministry. He was very involved in the mission work of the church and started the annual father’s day service and blood drive.
A memorial service will be held at Fairlington United Methodist Church, 3900 King Street, Alexandria Virginia at 1:00 pm Saturday, September 22, 2018 followed by a light reception in the fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his name to Fairlington United Methodist Church, First United Methodist Church, 110 East Queen Street, Hampton, Virginia or to the charity of your choice.
Friends are encouraged to visit www.parklawn-woodfh.com to share memories and words of condolence with the family.
Arrangements are under the care of Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 2551 N. Armistead Avenue, Hampton, Virginia 23666.
