Charles “Fred” Brown, age 84, parted this life on April 13, 2017. Fred was born on February 27, 1933 in Loris, South Carolina.

Fred retired as a truck driver for Dollar Tree, Inc. Prior to driving for Dollar Tree he worked for the Newport News Fire Department and was a member of the U.S. Army from 1954-1956. He was a member of Pine Chapel Baptist Church in Hampton, Virginia and an honorary member of the Peninsula Good Sam’s Camping group.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Solomon and Deatte Brown; a sister, Lucille Hardee; two brothers, Etheridge and Ed Brown; and a son, Ryan Brown. He is survived by his wife, Sue Brown; his children, Russell Brown (Leslie) of Raleigh, NC, Henri Nelle Soles of Loris, SC, Rick Arthur (Debi) of Yorktown, VA, Mike Arthur (Belinda) of Suffolk, VA, and Doug Arthur (Shelley) of Yorktown, VA.; his grandchildren, Justin Guin, Courtney Worcester, Sydney Brown, Ryan Thurmon, Lauren Lawless (Tony), Lindsay Arthur, Jordan Arthur, Stephaney Swanson, Kodee Arthur and Travis Arthur; and great-grandchildren, Liam Lawless, Leila Lawless, Landon Lawless and Olivia Long. He is also survived by his sister, Patricia Tyler of Loris, SC.
A service to celebrate Fred’s life will be held at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home on April 17, 2017, at noon. The family will receive friends one hour before the service. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Pine Chapel Baptist Church.
