Elizabeth Jane Shultz, 85, passed away June 17, 2024, at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN. She was born in Fulton County Ohio November 15, 1938, the only daughter of E. Jay Keefer.
She moved to Fort Wayne, IN in 1974. She acquired a B.S. Degree from Bowling Green State University in Elementary Education and earned her M.S. Degree from the University of Saint Francis in Special Education graduating Summa Cum Laude. She taught in public schools in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Indiana. She was an Educational Therapist in private practice for nearly 20 years teaching the Orton Gillingham Reading and Spelling Program to gifted dyslexic students.
She enjoyed varied interests during her life. Reading books, watching movies, gardening, renovating older houses, designing and creating clothing, supporting the Women’s Liberation Movement, searching for antiques, co-owning a sailboat with her girlfriend and venturing about Lake Erie, traveling throughout the United States and countries abroad, and playing duplicate bridge.
She was proceeded in death by her daughter and only child Elizabeth Ann Marie “Libby” Shultz; and her partner of many years, Jack Meyers.
Memorial Service is 3:30 pm, Thursday, June 20 at D.O. McComb and Sons Funeral Home – Maplewood Park, 4017 Maplecrest Road with calling beginning at 2:00 pm. Memorial contributions can be made to the Student Scholarship Fund at the University of Saint Francis, Office of Institutional Advancement, 2701 Spring Street, Fort Wayne, IN 46808.
