As an added benefit to the families we serve, we partner closely with Birkmeier & Sons Monument Company. Since 1880, the family-owned monument company has helped Fort Wayne families discover, create and customize monuments that commemorate the lives of loved ones in unique and memorable ways. They offer a wide variety of memorialization options, including bronze markers, mausoleums, benches, uprights and flat markers.

History

In 1925, with 27 funeral homes already in operation in the Fort Wayne community, our founder, D.O. McComb, saw a need and took a leap of faith. Having been superintendent of Allen County Schools for 20 years, Mr. McComb was a trusted name in Fort Wayne, and our first location on East Lewis Street served 20 families within the first year.

Growth and expansion

In 1928, the Lakeside facility opened, and in '40, McComb's sons Walter and David joined the company and expanded the business to serve families not only with funeral needs but also with emergency ambulance service at no extra cost. In '58, the Lakeside facility grew to the facility you see today, providing even better service for an increasing demand for exceptional service.

Since '58, we have added 6 new locations to serve our families all over Fort Wayne and surrounding communities. In 2012, we opened our Tribute Center, which serves crematory needs and provides a multipurpose building with a reception area for catered gatherings.

As a part of our continued growth, in 2016 we joined the Dignity Memorial network, allowing us to provide you with trusted local service from the largest network of funeral providers in North America.
