Obituary of Danny Lee Rickert
Danny (Dan) Rickert, 73, of Fort Wayne IN passed away on June 3, 2024 at home with his wife. He was born on November 24, 1950 in Goblesville, IN. He attended Clear Creek High School and graduated from Huntington High School in 1968. Dan earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Purdue University. He volunteered for Habitat for Humanity for several years and was on the Board of Directors and served as President from 2009 to 2011. Dan was a construction project manager for many years. He spent a good part of his career as a 2nd Vice-President in the Real Estate Investment Department at Lincoln and eventually retired from Ambassador Enterprises. Dan was active in his church, Saint Joseph United Methodist, and served the Lord through his gifts and abilities. He enjoyed time with his children and grandchildren, was an ardent Purdue fan, an avid golfer, and enjoyed hiking, skiing, and vacationing with friends and family. Dan will be missed by his wife, Judy (Harvill) Rickert of Fort Wayne; brother, David Rickert (Cheri) of Huntington, Ind.; daughters, Emily (Jeff) Hearon of Victoria, Minn., Megan (Tim) Deal of Leo, Ind., and Elissa Rickert of Fort Wayne, Ind. His grandchildren, Nathan Rickert, Lucas Hearon, Max Hearon, Olivia Deal, Virginia Deal, Teddy Deal and Zeeshan Kumar (Rickert) will all miss their 'Papa' dearly. Dan was preceded in death by his parents Mary Alice (Myers) Schwob Rickert, J. Robert Schwob, Robert M. Rickert; and brother, Douglas Rickert. Throughout Dan’s career, philanthropy, and life he touched many people and made amazing lifelong connections. He will be missed by all. Funeral Service is 11 am, Monday, June 10 at St. Joe United Methodist Church, 6004 Reed Rd, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Friends and family will be received 3 PM - 6 PM, Sunday, June 9, at D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Homes - Maplewood Park, 4017 Maplecrest Rd, Fort Wayne. Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne. Memorial Contributions may be directed to St. Joe United Methodist Church or American Cancer Society - Brain and Spinal Cord Tumors. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared below for the Rickert family.
