

Gibson Jester, age 86, died peacefully in his sleep on August 11, 2026. Gibson was born on April 20, 1940 in Dallas, Texas. After graduating from Hillcrest High School in Dallas, he enrolled at The University of Texas at Austin. He majored in Marketing in The School of Business and received his BBA in 1962. He was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. After graduating, he enlisted as a Reservist with the Texas Air National Guard. He married Janet DiRienzo in 1966. He worked for the Georgia-Pacific Corporation for 34 years.
He was a Branch Manager in both Jackson, Mississippi and Ft. Worth, Texas and received the Branch Manager of the Year award in both locations. Eventually, he worked for their Gypsum Division and at the time of his retirement, he was a Group District Manager for the Southwestern area of the United States. He was a member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Fort Worth for 34 years where he served three terms on the Vestry as well as numerous committee positions. Additionally, he was actively involved in Bible Study Fellowship for over 14 years, where he served as a discussion leader. In 2008, he and his wife Janet joined Trinity United Methodist Church in Arlington and were active members in the ABC Sunday School class. Gibson loved bass fishing and was a member of the Little Sandy Hunting and Fishing Club in East Texas for a number of years. Additionally he had a strong passion in following the University of Texas Athletics.
Gibson was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Janet Louise DiRienzo Jester. He is survived by his siblings Gail Jester Randal, Flora Jester Wilson, and Frank Jester; his youngest son Michael, his oldest son and daughter-in-law Mark and Lisa, and his two granddaughters Riley and Hannah, as well as many loving nieces and nephews in the extended family.
A funeral service for Gibson will be held Sunday, August 23, 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM (with reception immediately following) at Moore Funeral Home, 1219 North Davis Drive, Arlington, TX 76012. (Early visitations before the funeral will begin at 10 am).
