William "Bill" Stone Rogers went home to be with his Lord on October 4, 2013. He was 82 years old born on June 26, 1931 to Luther and Bessie Rogers in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. Bill was at home with is loving family caring for him when he left us
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Kathy Jean; two sisters and a brother.
His Air force military service spanned twenty one years prior to making his home in Yuma in 1970 with his devoted wife Barbara of 62 years. Active at Morningside Baptist Church, Bill provided faithful Deacon Service for 33 years. He was an ordained minister who served as Pastor of Wilderness Baptist Church, Vernon, AZ and First Southwest Baptist Church in Winterhaven, CA.
Bill served in Civil Service at Marine Corps Air Station, Yuma, AZ and later served the community with his "Rogers Handy Repair" business.
Survivors are his devoted wife, Barbara; daughter, Lynn (David) McCasland of Gilbert, AZ; son, Steve (Lori) Rogers of Tucson, AZ; sisters-in-law, Betty Reed, Mary (Claude) Waller and niece, Deborah (Ray) Face of Yuma; grandchildren, Jennifer Reeder, Daniel (Deanna) Reeder , Dusty (Marisa) Rogers, Stacy McCasland, Abigail (David) Proctor; great grandchildren, Cole Reeder, Anthony Donno, Daniel Reeder, Dustin Rogers, Chloe Rogers and Benjamin Reeder and many nieces and nephews.
Bill will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him. God saw that he was getting tired, that earthly rest was not to be, so He put His arms around him and whispered "Come With Me".
A viewing will be held from 6pm to 8pm, Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at Funeraria del Angel, located at 795 W 28th Street, Yuma AZ. Funeral services will be held at 11am, Thursday, October 10, 2013 at Morningside Baptist Church Located at 2900 S. 8th Avenue followed by a reception with internment at Desert Lawn Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hospice Compassus or Morningside Baptist Church.
