Verlan was born in Yuma, AZ, to Leelan and Opal Lee and graduated from Yuma High School in 1957. He enjoyed a long and fruitful retirement after dedicating over 40 years working for L.A. Yuma Freight Lines.
His commitment to his family was paramount, and he greatly cherished traveling to spend time with loved ones for birthdays and holidays.
As a 1st Presbyterian Church of Yuma member, he shared his passion for singing at most Sunday services. He and Jeanne also traveled to many Bluegrass music festivals which included regular themed cruise ship events. Verlan was a life member of the Yuma Elks Lodge #476 and Masonic Lodge #17.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Jeanne; and their two sons, Michael Lee, who resides in Conroe, TX with his wife Sue, and Brian Lee with fiancé Jeryll of Kingsburg, CA.
Verlan also leaves behind one grandchild, Jeffrey Lee, and his wife Jessica of Baton Rouge, LA.; along with a very special great-grandchild, Avery Lee.
Additionally, he is survived by his sister Adele Wakins of Yuma, AZ; two step-grandchildren, Deanna Phillips and her husband Jeremy of Shreveport, LA, and Kevin Glasgow, wife Patricia; and nephew Jaxon of Raleigh, NC.
Verlan's brother Gary preceded his death in 1983.
Funeral service is Saturday, December 21st at Johnson Mortuary, Desert Lawn Memorial Park, 10:00 am viewing, 11:00 am chapel service, and 12:00 pm graveside to honor and celebrate Verlan's life.
