Born and raised in Alabama, Sylvia moved to Arizona as a young wife with her daughter, Anita Louise. She worked as an accountant at Sears, and later opened a beauty salon– M'lady's Salon was her dream and vision for over 30 years. Sylvia welcomed her clients warmly in a place of friendship, stories, life lessons, and fashionable hairstyles. She had energy, spunk, and many say she was feisty.
We remember her as Mamow, Aunt Cassie, or Sylvia. She loved collecting shoes, fishing on the Colorado River, cooking southern food, and the many sleepovers with her grandchildren. We celebrate her gifts of love and life – she made us all feel special.
Sylvia was preceded in death by three incredible husbands: Roy Smith, Guy Rutledge, and Lt. Col Arthur Decker; as well as her loving daughter Anita. She is survived by three grandchildren: Terri Kehler (Kurt Kehler), Kenneth Ratliff (Lynda Ratliff), Blake Ratliff (Kim Ratliff); nine great-grandchildren: Gage, Alyse, Megan, Cole, Dillan, Jordan, Brooke, Terri Lynn, and Madeline; and three great-great-grandchildren: Ethan, Elise, and Leo Neal.
