She graduated from Yuma High School in 1960. She was married to Richard P. Lopez August 19, 1961, at Calvary Lutheran Church, Yuma, and the couple moved to the Midwest shortly after. She was a homemaker who raised two sons, Mark and Phillip, in Missouri.
She enjoyed sewing, cooking and baking. She loved music and sang in multiple church and community choirs throughout her life. She and her husband were active members of Christian Outreach Center in Hillsboro, MO. While there, she served as the secretary for Bible and Literacy League, a missions organization. Susan and Richard moved back to Yuma in 1986, where she worked for the Arizona Department of Economic Security until retiring in 2004.
She is survived by her husband Richard of Yuma, two sons Mark and his wife Diane of Santa Clarita, CA and Phillip and his wife Jean of Santa Rosa, CA; three grandchildren Zachary and his wife Abigail of Lockport, NY, Cameron and his wife Chelsea of Auburn, ME, and Sarah of Yuma; two great-grandchildren, Judah and Asa Lopez, both of Lockport, NY; one brother Trenton Ferro and his wife Judy of Shorewood, IL ; two sisters Gloria Stanton and Naomi Comstock and her husband Lynn, all of Yuma; one brother-in-law Tony Amado of Yuma, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, Jack and Ruth Ferro, and sister-in-law Mary Amado and brother-in-law Ron Stanton.
A visitation will be held Friday, April 25 at 9:00am at Johnson Mortuary & Desert Lawn Memorial Park with burial immediately following. A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 26 at 2:00pm at Christ Lutheran Church in Yuma with a reception following. Memorial gifts may be sent to Christ Lutheran Church.
