Scott Barnes, devoted husband and friend of many, passed away peacefully at home on October 12. Scott is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen (Wilson) Barnes, his mother, Sharon Barnes, and siblings Steve (Sherry) Barnes, Chris (Laura) Barnes, Deeann (Mike) Rathman, and Jobe (Dana) Conrad. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family. He is preceded in death by his father, Stewart Barnes.
Scott spent many summers as a young boy with family in Iowa. After graduating from Wickenburg High School, he worked throughout the Midwest in the mining and steel industry before moving to Yuma where he met the love of his life, Kathleen, and enjoyed 22 years of marriage.
Having retired from the Yuma Desalination Plant after 35 years, Scott looked forward to enjoying his love of nature and was planning his next adventure to remote areas of the Sonoran Desert. His wanderlust did not end there. Scott spent his last summer visiting a lifetime of friends and relatives from Iowa to Alaska. He shared his love of nature, the outdoors, its wonder and beauty with all he encountered. He never met a stranger, only good friends in waiting.
He will be remembered by all for his heart of service, positive outlook, and sense of humor.
