Ruth Maria Jones, age 73, of Yuma, Arizona passed away on Monday, April 10, 2023, with her three daughters by her side. Ruth was born in Seattle, Washington. She later moved to Eastern WA to raise her children. During her career at Don's Restaurant, Ruthie and her children were heavily involved in the Soap Lake community. Doing activities such as The Greek Festival, Christmas Caroling, and the Great Canoe Race.
In 1989 Ruthie settled in Wilson Creek WA, where she continued to volunteer her time with teaching cooking classes. Her favorite place to be was anywhere the sun was shining. In the summer months, you’d always find Ruthie and the kids at Billy Clapp Lake along with a cooler full of Shasta. She enjoyed watching her kids raise and show fair animals, and loved attending her children’s sporting events.
Ruth enjoyed traveling to Mexico and Alaska with her late husband Hal where they eventually settled in Yuma, AZ. During this time, they enjoyed entertaining with friends and family. Ruthie was always the life of the party.
Ruth is survived by her son Zachariah Odion of Seattle, Washington; her daughter Sabra Wright (Jim) of Yuma, Arizona; her daughter Brionna Fitterer of Moses Lake, Washington; and her daughter Chesirae King (Ira) of Phoenix, Arizona. Ruth also leaves behind nine Grandchildren and four Great Grandchildren.
A private cremation will take place at Desert Lawn Memorial Park Crematory in Yuma, AZ.
