Ron met the love of his life, Shirley Rae Lohr, in 1943 when he offered to let her ride his bicycle. They were married in Yuma on November 18th, 1953 after he completed basic training for the Army at Ft. Ord.
While serving with the 7804 Maginot Caserne head courters in Thierville, France, their oldest daughter Beverly Ann was born.
Upon leaving the service Ron moved his small family to Long Beach, California. While living there he attended classes at Long Beach City College (class of 1958) and Long Beach State College (class of 1961) and worked as a night bank auditor. While in Long Beach his only son, Gary Michael and his youngest daughter, Shannon Lynn were born.
After graduating with a degree in accounting and business, the family moved back to Yuma in 1961. Ron worked at Schwark, Vaughn and Company where he worked alongside Paul Schwark and Dick Vaughn as an accountant for 40 years before retiring in 2001.
Ron is survived by his wife, Shirley, son Gary M. (Kerribeth) and daughter Shannon (William) Gibson, his grandchildren, Lohri and Michael, great grandchildren, Aaron and Rylan.
Ron fought a long battle with CHF and passed away on April 27th, 2016 with his loving wife beside him.
Ron led by example, his gentle guidance with his children and grandchildren has been a testament to his integrity and honor as a husband, father and friend. Nothing was more important to Ron than family time, be it fishing with his father, or playing hide and seek with his grandchildren or a Sunday afternoon lunch with the whole family.
Per Ron's wishes there will be no funeral services. (Donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated in lieu of flowers).
Arrangements under the direction of Johnson Mortuary & Desert Lawn Memorial Park, Yuma, AZ.
