Born November 26, 1947, in Los Angeles, California, Richard went to be with the Lord on April 14, 2025, in Phoenix, Arizona, after complications with his chemotherapy treatments. Following a courageous four-month battle, he passed away surrounded by his loving family.
Richard was a devoted husband to his wife of 54 years, Jackie Clark. In 1974, he embraced fatherhood by adopting Jackie’s son, David, raising him as his own.
A proud Navy veteran, Richard served his country with honor. Following his time in the military, he began his career as a cable repairman for Pacific Bell in Los Angeles. In 1978, he moved his family to Yuma, Arizona, where he continued working in the telecommunications industry, ultimately retiring after 32 years of service. His strong work ethic led him to take on another role at Yuma Proving Ground, where he remained until his second retirement in 2015.
Richard had a deep passion for adventure. In his younger years, he was an avid off-roader, joining a jeep club to explore the desert dunes. He also had a love for shooting pool and spent much of the 1980s and ’90s competing in local bars such as The Showcase, Sugar’s, and Western Club, proudly amassing numerous trophies. A classic car enthusiast, he cherished his ’55, ’56, and ’57 Chevys, and could often be found in his garage listening to his favorite surfing music while working on them.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Elizabeth Clark. He is survived by his beloved wife, Jackie; his son, David (Alma) Clark; his grandchildren Andrew (Marcy) Clark, Jessica Clark, and Danielle Clark; his brother, Dennis (Nila) Clark; and his great-grandchildren Alek, Maddyson, Arianna, and Leland Clark.
A graveside service will be held on May 17, at 10:00 a.m. at Desert Lawn Memorial Cemetery.
