Survivors include sons, Richard Joseph Calderon and Thomas Matthew Calderon, both of Yuma. He was preceded in death by father Ricardo Calderon SR., mother Amelia Calderon, brothers Danny and Bobby Calderon. Surviving siblings are Mary Lou Fajardo and David Calderon of Oklahoma, Judy Jimenez of Yuma and Virginia Towney of Temecula, CA.
Richard graduated Yuma High School and Arizona Western College. He then joined the Army and received honorable discharge in 1979. He was employed by various companies in the Yuma community.
Richard enjoyed shopping for antiques at Goodwill and yard sales. He collected records, cassettes, cds, dvds, and movies. As a teenager he played drums with local Yuma bands and never lost his love of music. For many years his transportation was a motorcycle which he preferred and enjoyed.
Richard was an easy going person and showed kindness to everyone he met. Till the end of his life he never let his illness get him down. He was very independent and lived a simple, humble life. He will be missed
