He attended Yuma High School. He enlisted in the United States Army and became a military Police Officer. He Served Proudly in the 158th Infantry Regiment known as the "Bushmasters".
Quito was active in the Civil Right movement. Later He would become the Personal Bodyguard of his first cousin Cesar Estrada Chavez, leader of the United Farm Worker Labor Union. He traveled to Korea and Honduras with the National Guard. In his leisure time, he enjoyed playing music on his guitar at family gatherings. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed telling stories.
Quito is survived by his sisters, Beatriz Garcia, Mary Hortencia Aldape and Lydia "Kiki" Claussen; his children Raymond J. Chavez, Sarah Salazar and Rolando Chavez; his 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his daughter Rolinda Cruz Chavez, former spouse Ernestina A. Chavez, father Jesus and mother Francisca Chavez and son-in-law Timothy Salazar JR.
Funeral services will be held at Johnson Mortuary & Desert Lawn Memorial Park on Thursday February 10th, 2022 at 5:00 p.m. with rosary at 7:00 p.m. The final service will be held at the same location on Friday February 11th, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. and burial to follow at 10:00 a.m.
