Rachel S. Castro

She graduated from Garfield High School in Montebello, CA in 1957 then attended college and became a Nurse's Assistant. After moving to Yuma she worked as a Nurse's Aide at the Yuma Regional Medical Center from 1975 until she retired in 1997. After leaving YRMC, she devoted her time as a homemaker to her dear husband Jesus of 54 years and her three children.

She was a member of Sanctuary of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Los Angeles, CA and she attended church at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Yuma, AZ. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, traveling and she also loved to bowl on the YRMC bowling team while employed there.

Rachel was preceded in death by her loving parents, Manuel and Anita Sermeno; 3 sisters; and 3 brothers. She is survived by her loving husband, Jesus Castro; daughters, Rebecca McIver and Rosemary (Joseph) Jose both of Yuma; son, Richard (Christine) Castro of Los Angeles, CA; grandchildren, Alisha Moreno Ramos, Angelo McIver, Kody Jose, Alena Moreno, and Ryan, Nicholas, Jessie (Bird) Castro; and 3 great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2014 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. until time of Service at Funeraria Del Angel, 795 W. 28th Street, Yuma, AZ 85364.
