I most definitely remember Phil’s warm smile. Even as a teenager, with years between our ages, Phil’s greeting and handshake was comforting. The direct look from his eyes, strong grip, and him speaking my name expressed a sincerity of acknowledgment and kindness. I well remember the feeling of great joy when Phil responded to the gospel and yielded to God’s gentle touch. 

Our thoughts go your way.  Today we visited with Bud Chafee at Scottsbluff convention about some of our memories of Phil.  Our first Jeep ride we rode with Phil and Susie about 20 years ago!  Better yet, if there was a meeting, they were there!  We are thankful for another pilgrim journey ended faithfully!




I love the memory of Phil's gentle way and his smile.  I will never forget the living example he left when he humbled himself and gave his life to the Lord.  I, too, missed being able to see Phil and Susie when I went home to IN to visit.  It's so hard to lose our older generation, but memories are precious and their legacy lives on in our lives.  Love this family!

One of the things I was always sorry about when visiting Indiana was that Phil and Susie no longer lived here! It was such a treat, having known them as a child, to be in their home as an adult. Phil was such a kind gentle person. Lots of love and care to his family. Anita Byler
