June 11th, 1932 - May 17th, 2016
Patsy (Patricia) June Brown born – June 11, 1932 to Richard and Alice Roberts in Marmaduke, Arkansas joined her friends and family in heaven May 27, 2016 in her home surrounded by her loved ones.
Although her legal name was Patricia you never called her that or Patty, she went by Patsy and that was that. Patsy's family moved from Arkansas in 1938 to Somerton, Arizona, where her sister and youngest brother were born. Patsy, being the oldest, helped raise her younger siblings while her parents worked in the farming community, it was the start of the nurturing, loving and kind person she became. Patsy never knew a stranger, always welcoming them into her life, with a hug or a kind word and food always food. She had more kids that the ones she gave birth to and everyone adored her and remembers her boisterous laugh.
Patsy married her best friend and love of her life Eugene Brown June 25, 1948 and lived in Somerton just down the street from her mom and dad. They had 3 sons – Kenneth David Brown, Steven Ray Brown (deceased) and Christopher Gene Brown.
Eugene being a carpenter and working for a company that stationed him all over the United States and overseas, it was an opportunity to see what was outside of Yuma for the whole family. They moved back to Yuma in 1968 and Patsy decided she needed to work outside the home. In 1972 her career working with Yuma District 1 schools cafeteria began. Her love of cooking and children came together as an opportunity to earn a paycheck, which was important to her. Patsy retired in 1992 as the Cafeteria Manager at Gila Vista Junior High.
Patsy was always the life of the party with a laugh everyone knows and remembers. Always with welcoming arms, cooking pies for holidays and the best food you could imagine. Patsy was preceded in death by her husband Eugene Brown, son Steven Ray, mother Alice Roberts, father Richard Roberts, brothers – Dick Roberts and Jim Roberts and great grandson, Keith Brown Jr. She will leave behind her sister, Peggy Gordon, two sons, Kenny Brown Sr. (Debbie) and Chris Brown (Susan) – Four grandchildren - Kenneth David Brown Jr.(Amber), Khrista-Sue Marie Corpron (Chance), Keith Dwayne Brown (Tiffany), and Bryan Michael Reed Brown. Along with her beloved great-grandchildren – Chris Corpron, Katelyn Corpron, Jasmine Brown, Ian Brown and Ryder Brown, and many many nieces and nephews with whom she all adored.
Jay Vance will preside over the funeral services May 27th – 2:00 pm at Funeraria Del Angel Kamman on the corner of 8th Avenue and 28th Street – then graveside at Desert Lawn Memorial Park where she will be laid to rest with her husband. A celebration of life will be held at her home in Somerton after the services.
