A resident of Yuma for over 50 years, Josephine "Jo" Francis Thompson went to receive her heavenly reward on Saturday September 10, 2016. She was resting comfortably at Palmview Rehabilitation Hospital when she passed from natural causes.
Jo was born April 4th, 1928 in Montandon, PA. As a young girl, her family moved to Phoenix, AZ. It was there, at the age of 24, that she wed George Frances Thompson- a marriage that spanned almost 25 years and produced two sons. Moving to Yuma with her family in 1962, she worked in several different positions prior to becoming office manager for the Yuma County fair board. She later became office manager for the Yuma Board of Realtors from which she retired.
Jo was a devoted Lutheran and a long time member of Christ Lutheran Church. She exemplified the Christian principles of service and giving. She worked with Yuma Rotary and the Assistance League of Yuma. More than anything, Jo enjoyed spending time with her family and large circle of friends; supplying all with her home made peanut brittle.
Jo is survived by her two sons, Eddie (Patricia) and Tim (Catherine); Grandchildren Sean Thompson, Tara Thompson, Lindsey Thompson, and Travis Thompson; her dearest sister Dorothy Love and niece Kathy Myers (Richard).
