John was a very kind, humble and good natured man, a skilled engineer and carpenter who also loved biking. I enjoyed his love for life, and his self deprecating sense of humor. I remember him showing me his homemade camper, and the youthful gleam in his eyes as he spoke of the adventures ahead. Most people grow old toward invalidism -- not John. He lived richly and loved deeply to the end.

Everyone knew John even though he was very quiet, and we all watched him build the Golden Spruce by himself with very little if any help even though some asked like I, that if he needed some help, call.  I got to know John when I was a fuel/Propane delivery driver for Service oil/Crowley. We talked many times which I enjoyed very much.  He will be missed but always remembered by many of us. Our prayers and thoughts are there for you Patty (Mom). I will be here if you need any help.

My dear Patty, you are in my thoughts and prayers. I can only imagine how terribly you are missing your John. Remember that he is always with you, watching over you. Holding you close in my heart ❤.

John and I were born in the same hospital.  Yet I first met him in Alaska!  That's a long way from Massachusetts!  John will be missed, Patty!  You are being prayed for!  Please know that you are much loved and highly respected!  God bless you abundantly and comfort you and strengthen you in the days ahead.

I first met John in 2001.  As a young Alaska State Trooper I was sent down to Chitina Alaska to patrol the dipnet fishery.  As I drove by the old store they had, I saw this beautiful octagon log cabin being built further back in the woods.  I stopped and talked to the carpenter.  I told him "your building my house"!  I always wanted to build one.  I moved to Glennallen in 2003, John has always been my friend and cabin building teacher.

I will miss you John. My condolences Patty. Hang on we will be there soon. Love you. ❤❤❤

Patty, you and John are Alaska to me. When I met you and saw how John built those cabins and watched him zipping around on that four wheeler it filled me with such admiration. You told me about how you guys worked and lived all over Alaska, fishing boats, restaurants, how John mined gold. He is truly one of the best and amazingly talented and strong men I ever met and you one of the strongest and bravest women. I'm so glad I met you both. You and he are in my heart always.
