Joseph "Joe" Markovich passed away at the age of 85 on Saturday, January 21, 2012 in Yuma, Arizona. He was born in Butte, Montana on February 20, 1926.
Joe was a retired veteran of the United States Navy and was a business man for beer/wine distributors.
Joe will be missed by his loving wife, Ruth E. Markovich of the home; son, Dale (Cheryl) Markovich; grandchildren, Mike Markovich, Greg (Lauren) Markovich. Rachel Markovich, Kristen Lloyd (Fiance: Jason) , great grandson, Easton; grandchild, Danielle Lloyd; daughter, Debbie (Mike) Devon: grandchildren, Dale (Melanie) Malee; great grandchildren, Ella and Ryan; grandson, Brian Malee and brother, Don (Marlyn) Markovich.
Preceded into death by his parents Joe and Mami Markovich.
Memorial Service for Joe will be Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at 1:30 pm at the Country Roads Chapel, 5707 E. 32nd Street, Yuma, Arizona.

When Joe Markovich walked into the room, those in his company felt energy, an enthusiastic spontaneity. This was just one example of who Joe was and how he impacted those around him. Joe was a clever and gregarious person who always sought out the finest attributes in other people. It was as if Joe wanted to share all of their experiences, revel in their lives and celebrate their discoveries. Joe was tireless and had boundless enthusiasm that would serve him well throughout his life.
He was the son of Joe and Mami Markovich. Always at the ready with a good joke, he grew up to be quite a humorous person. While some who knew Joe might describe him as an idealist, his friends and family understood well that Joe was always in pursuit of life’s endless possibilities and opportunities available to him.
Joe was raised with one brother. He had Don. Joe was very accepting and supportive of his family. He was perceived as the central person in his family in terms of keeping communication open between the family members. Whenever discord or tension arose within the home, Joe was typically the member who brought about resolution and harmony. These traits served Joe well in his adult life and, along with his wit, outgoing personality, and understanding of others, drew the admiration of many who knew him.
Joe's skill at “building bridges” played an important role in his ability to make his new family happy. He was quite sensitive towards Ruth's needs, showing his constant concern and fondness. Joe was tenderhearted and sensitive, qualities that served him well in helping to nurture his family.
Joe was a natural and creative parent who was willing to provide his family with all sorts of new and interesting experiences. For Joe, parenting was a particularly enjoyable and pleasurable part of his life. Joe's skill at understanding his children's feelings, his sensitivity to their needs, and his gift for gentle persuasion enabled him to find novel solutions to any problem or situation that might crop up. Joe was blessed with two children: son, Dale and daughter, Debbie. They were also blessed with seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren, grandchildren, Mike Markovich, Greg Markovich, Rachel Markovich. Kristen Lloyd, Danielle Lloyd, Dale Malee and Brian Malee; great grandchildren, Easton, Ella and Ryan.
Joe was uplifted by new ideas and was excited by life’s possibilities, traits that made him an exceptional worker. His primary occupation was business man. Joe was enterprising, inventive and working against deadlines seemed to energize him. Joe had the uncanny ability to identify a win/win solution to just about any problem, possibly because of his gift for insight. Joe's fellow workers saw him as a supporter and a mentor.
Joe was a Navy veteran. His fellow soldiers could count on him for being able to make adjustments to any situation as needed.
Joe Markovich passed away on January 21, 2012 at Yuma Regional Medical Center in Yuma, Arizona. He is survived by his loving wife, Ruth, his son, Dale (Cheryl) Markovich, his daughter, Debbie (Mike) Devon, his grandchildren, Mike Markovich, Greg (Lauren) Markovich, Rachel Markovich, Kristen Lloyd and her Fiance: Jason, Danielle Lloyd, Dale (Melanie) Malee and Brian Malee, his great grandchildren, Easton, Ella and Ryan, and his brother Don (Marlyn) Markovich. Services were held at Country Roads Chapel on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at 1:30 PM.
There was always a certain style and inventiveness to Joe. He was a dynamic, self-expressive person who was forever looking to celebrate the endless possibilities life had to offer. He had a knack for being clever, creative and witty, and for others, was a joy to be around. While he was often fiercely independent, it seemed as if many others looked to Joe Markovich for inspiration, leadership, wisdom and even courage. Joe was always more than willing to share life’s experiences with his loved ones.
