Frank Leroy Fisher was born in Topeka, Kansas on December 28, 1939, the fifth of six children to Frank and Verta Fisher. After graduating from high school he joined the U.S Navy and was assigned to the carrier USS Ranger as an Aviation Machinist's Mate. While in the Navy Frank boxed for a bit. After the Navy he met and married the love of his life, Viola Stanley of 59 years. They moved to Yuma, settled in and raised two daughters. Frank found work as a mechanic at Varner Chrysler and then a career he enjoyed most as the automotive teacher at Kofa High School until his retirement. During his years he also was a well respected official in the local area for high school and city league sports. He also had a time as an umpire for the MLB during the umpire strike. He enjoyed woodworking and had an extensive collection of model warplanes from all years.
Frank is survived by his wife Viola, His oldest brother Vernon (Ruth) Fisher and youngest sister Reba (Ryder) Scobba, niece Rhonda (Mike) Courtland, daughters Karen (Harvey) Croutch and Candy Fisher, Grandchildren Leonard and Frank (Danielle) Fassetta, Gerald Harris, and Clinton, Daniel and Catelyn Croutch, and Josh Morrison.
He was preceded in death by his parents, twin brothers Ronald and Donald, and sister.
Private cremation is being handled by Johnson Mortuary.
