Edward Joseph Paiva, 85, of Yuma, Arizona passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2013. Eddie was born in Danvers, Massachusetts to Manuel and Lucy Paiva. Early on in life, Eddie served in the Air Force and later followed his dreams of working in the wilderness of Wyoming where he worked as a logger until his retirement in the mid 1990's. He often sought out adventures, especially those that involved being on the water. Boating was his passion, his desire for serenity continued long into his older years.
Eddie was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather leaving behind his loving daughter, Teresa Gipson; 2 wonderful granddaughters, Ericka Cox and Saundra Plum; son-in-law, Kris Cox; 5 great-grandchildren, Eric Johnson, Nathan Cox, Elizabeth Plum, Devon Plum, and Christopher Cox. He is also survived by his brothers, Richard and Robert Paiva; nieces, Brenda and Sandra; and nephews Joseph and Bruce Paiva. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Services with Military Honors will be held 2:00 p.m. this Friday, December 20, 2013 at Johnson Mortuary Chapel, 1415 S 1st Avenue, Yuma, AZ 85364. All friends of Eddie's are invited to attend.
Eddie's final resting place will be at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix, interment will be at 1:30 pm on Monday, December 23, 2013.
