Eddie Leroy Thompson beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away on Monday, February 20th, 2023. A lifelong resident of Yuma, AZ, Eddie was born March 4th 1954 to George and Josephine Thompson. He spent his childhood growing up in Yuma, AZ.
Eddie graduated with Honors from Arizona State University after majoring in Spanish Literature and Business. After graduating, Eddie married his lifelong love and wife, Patricia, in 1982 and together they embarked on their dream of building a successful business.
Eddie wrote and and was awarded multiple contracts with the Department of Justice and US Marshals Service and worked alongside Arizona law enforcement for a quarter of a century.
Eddie served the communities of Yuma, Somerton, and San Luis along with his hardworking and faithful employees. Eddie’s hard work and commitment to excellence changed the future of his family and all those who worked alongside him.
Eddie always knew where the best adventure was. Eddie taught his children, Tara and Travis, to sail in the bay of Ensenada, Mexico, took the family on excursions to Alaska, and throughout the old west towns of Arizona. He showed us the joys of nature with many camping trips with dear friends. Eddie was the best storyteller around the campfire!
Eddie loved to read about the American Southwest and world history. Eddie loved riding and building motorcycles. He won the competition for most original motorcycle in Los Angeles with a 1978 Suzuki that he custom rebuilt out of parts from his retired medium duty tow truck and was featured in the ‘Cafe Racer’ motorcycle magazine.
Eddie had a soft spot for animals and always kept a loyal dog in his home to guard his family.
Eddie is survived by his beloved Wife Patricia Thompson and his Son and Daughter, Travis Lee and Tara Ann Thompson. He is also survived by his brother Tim Thompson, and sister-in law Catherine Thompson, along with their cousin Kathy Myers. Eddie is also survived by his brother-in-law, Benard Bunz and sister-in-law Tracy Bunz along with his brother-in-law Stanley Brandenberger and sister-in-law Kacey Brandenberger. Additionally, he is survived by many loving nieces and nephews who reside in Arizona, California, Montana, Oregon and Texas. Eddie is loved more than words can express and will be deeply missed by all.
