Connie was preceded in death by his wife, Iona, of 65 years, his father, Charles Tyree, mother, Mary Tyree, and sister, Ruth Milgram.
Connie was born in Porum, Oklahoma on January 5, 1928. He moved with his family to Tolleson, Arizona in the early 30's during the time of the "Great Depression" and "Dust Bowl" in the mid-west. He attended Tolleson High School, but left high school before graduating in order to join the Navy during World War II. He later earned his GED. While in the Navy, he married Iona, and after a brief time in Phoenix after he was discharged from the Navy, they moved to Yuma, Arizona in 1951. He was an employee of Mountain Bell Telephone Company for 36 ½ years and retired as a Central Office Technician. Connie was very active in his church, becoming a member of First Southern Baptist Church in 1951 and later at Morning Side Southern Baptist Church until his health began to fail. Besides his devotion to family and church, Connie was very active in the Yuma American Legion Post #19 where he served as Post Adjutant and Post Commander. He was also a 52-year member of Yuma Elks Post 476 serving in a number of leadership positions with the Elks. Connie also spent considerable time in the football, basketball and baseball bleachers with Iona watching his sons play ball.
In lieu of flowers, Connie's request was that donations be made to Morning Side Southern Baptist Church.
