Barbara Marie Montenegro (Alley), aged 61, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on September 26, 2024, in Yuma, Arizona. Born September 30, 1962, Barbara graduated from A&M Consolidated High School and furthered her education at Arizona Western College. She dedicated 27 years as an office manager at Plaza Auto Center, where her professionalism and warmth were well appreciated.
Barbara was a vibrant soul, known for her bubbly personality and compassionate nature. She was a loving wife to Joe Montenegro, a dedicated mother to Malina Montenegro, married to Jxxn Montenegro, and Brett Shryock, married to Brittany Shryock. She was also a doting grandmother to Oakley and Raelynn Shryock.
Her life was a testament to her fighting spirit and commitment to living fully and loving deeply.
She enjoyed playing softball and was an avid reader, which brought much joy and fulfillment to her life. In addition, she enjoyed spending as much time with her friends, family, and godchildren at their functions or events. Lastly, as a team captain, she was very active with Relay for Life. Barbara is survived by her husband, children, and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, William "Willie" Alley and Barbara "Billie" Alley (McDaniel), as well as her in-laws, J. Enrique and Virginia Montenegro.
A church service to honor and celebrate her life will be held at Immaculate Conception Church at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 16, 2024. Immediately following the service, Barbara will be escorted to the Desert Lawn Cemetery for a gravesite blessing and burial. You are welcome to follow her over or arrive on your own. Flowers can be sent to Johnson Mortuary and Desert Lawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, Barbara wished for donations to the Humane Society of Yuma, reflecting her compassionate spirit.
