Angel E. Quintero passed into eternal life on February 20, 2012. Born October 26, 1926 in Yuma, he was raised in the Gila Valley. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the Philippines and Japan before being honorably discharged, he also served four years in the Arizona National Guard. Angel worked for Southwestern Ice and later Sunkist Coolers where he retired. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, pitching horseshoes, his lawn service, and loved listening to music.
Angel leaves behind sons, John "Bachi" (Denise), Gilbert "Petie" (Esther), David (Alice), and Ray Quintero; daughters, Lydia Pena, Rachel Wakamatzu, Yolanda (George) Evitch, and Mary Quintero. He is also survived by 23 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandson and his brother Joe Quintero. Angel was preceded in death by his wife Beatrice "Chita" Quintero, infant daughter, Dolores Emma Quintero, parents, David and Dolores Quintero, three brothers, four sisters, and a great-grandson.
Wake will be held at Funeraria del Angel, 795 W. 28th Street, on Sunday March 4, 2012 from 5:00-10:00 P.M. with Rosary at 7:00 P.M. Funeral mass will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday, March 5, 2012 at St. Francis Church. Burial to follow at Desert Lawn Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Matthew, Anthony, Dominic and Jadrien Quintero, Hector Wakamatzu Jr, Jesse Pena, Angel Medel, and Gabriel Escalanti. Honorary pallbearers are Joe Quintero, George Evitch, Steven Martinez, John Jr, Gilbert Jr, David Jr, Fabian and Michael Quintero and Richard Horcasitas. Dad, Tata, and Tatita we are going to miss you very much but find comfort in knowing you are with God and Nana in heaven. We love you!
