Monteray Heffington, aged 94, passed away on June 3rd at home surrounded by loved ones. Her ordeal with cancer came to an end peacefully and painless with the help of palliative care. She was preceded in death by William Steele Heffington, faithful breadwinner and husband for over sixty years. They moved to Calimesa around 1986 from Hemet and Anaheim before that, enjoying many friendships.
Born January 1924 in Texas, to parents Homer and Cora Jones, Monteray is survived by sons, H Jerry Heffington and Claude W Heffington; older sister Genee; 1 grandson David; 1 great-grandchild; and many loving nieces and nephews. She worked a short time at Knott’s Berry Farm in Virginia’s Gift Shop, helping to defray the costs of raising two boys. Her primary role was home-maker and mother, bearing it proudly.
She attended Yucaipa Church of Christ and participated in numerous outreach ministries, attending to the needs of many.
