Madalyn had a tender heart and a soul full of love. She was very adventurous and artistic. She loved camping, riding dirt bikes, quads, skateboarding and everything active but was also very creative and enjoyed exploring nature to find inspiration for her photography and painting. She especially enjoyed the nights with full moon, twinkly stars and meteor showers. She even took classes on how to take pictures of the stars in the night sky with her grandma Jenifer. She found a love of writing and making music which she had just started selling on an online platform.
Madalyn loved all her friends even if they didn’t speak often. She considered all her friends her second family. She did everything she could to keep them close. Even gathered them together for adventures hiking in the mountains and made new friends everywhere she went with her loving and generous spirit. She loved her family and friends so much that she wanted to keep a part of them close to her when distance was between them. She kept every birthday card, every drawing, every note and picture of them or something that reminded her of them when they were apart. Above of all, what she held the dearest were from her dad Matt, grandpa Dean and grandma Jenifer. Her favorite keepsake was clothing. She often stole her dad and Grandpa’s clothes out of their closet and right under their noses.
Madalyn was a fiercely independent girl that took pride in her progress. She graduated from Green Valley High School in 2021 and openly discussed the desire to go to college for an engineering certificate. She was also interested in the trade schools which was apparent when she would ask her dad how to use tools and show how to fix things around the house. She was excited for the future and her growing independence. She was committed to being authentic and true to herself. She worked two jobs and lived on her own. She even had kittens that she devoted her time and love to and made sure that she stayed in contact with her little brother and sister who were out of city and out of state. She wrote and recorded her own music which she successfully sold on You Tube and her talent and skills for film making got her accepted into the San Luis Obispo film festival for her movie “FIVE” which got public recognition.
Madalyn loved her dad. She looked up to him so much and wanted to be just like him. She enjoyed his company and he enjoyed hers and never let an argument go too long. It didn’t matter if you were friend, family or foe, the moment you saw Matt and Madalyn together you saw the close loving bond that evolved through doing fun things together. She loved to go camping with him and learned how to ride quads and dirt bikes together. She learned patience and absorbed his calming personality as well as how to handle power tools and lay concrete . She adored him so much that she used to wear all his stolen work shirts and tell people she was a plumber just to keep him close at heart.
She had told her grandma recently when asked, how good things were going for her and her dad and that they were getting along well but that she had regretted not calling Shawna on Mother’s Day and thanking her for all the things she had done for Madalyn over all these years. She later reached out to Shawna and told her how much she appreciated everything she did and wished her belated Happy Mother’s Day. Madalyn understood the meaning of evolving through humility and never wanted anyone to feel unloved.
She had a wonderful bond with her grandma Jenifer. They traveled to Wyoming and watched the eclipse, and to the Grand Canyon and Sedona to explore all the beauty and peacefulness with all its mystic nature.
Madalyn loved her aunt Allison. While growing up they spent many weekends playing barbies and watching her favorite movies. As they got older, they would talk daily and Maddy would always look to Ally for advice or comfort or just to spend time together. She felt very comfortable with Ally and was able to confide in her without receiving judgement.
Madalyn had a very special bond with her Grandpa Dean; they were best friends. They would go to the beach in Carlsbad and sneak off to get ice cream, go fishing every year for family vacation. She readily worked out with him in the mornings and relax in the evenings together. She loved to explore the beach with grandpa Dean and steal all his clothes to keep for herself. She never wanted to bring friends to the beach because that was her time with grandpa. She loved going to grandpa’s house and looking through his treasure box and listening to all of his favorite music and hearing all his stories. They would play with the bee-bee guns and bow and arrows in the backyard and sneak treats and chocolate until their stomachs hurt. They had many dance parties in the garage with her grandmother “Marma” and Aunt Ally.
Madalyn loved her brother Jaidyn and sister Irelyn. She always took care of them, walking Jaidyn to school and eating lunch with them. She took care of them like they were her own children. Madalyn was there the day Irelyn was born to welcome her to the family. It was one of the sweetest moments of her life. Madalyn promised to protect them always and look after them. Her family has named three stars in their honor so that her siblings will always feel her protective spirit with them anywhere in the world.
Madalyn will be greatly missed. Though as strong headed and set she was in her own way of living, The world is a much sadder place without her. Those whose lives she touched with her loving generous spirit all have a great gift to pass on to friends and family. Madalyn taught us all how to love more unconditionally, be kind and patient, and support and guide one another through times of uncertainty with grace and without malicious judgment. We all should strive to live a life as fully and open as she did.
A memorial service for Madalyn will be held Friday, July 22, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Weaver-Hughes Chapel, 33629 Yucaipa Blvd, Yucaipa, California 92399.
