Laura Luevone Dean, 68, passed away March 18, 2015, due to heart failure at San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital, Banning, California. Laura was born April 20, 1947 in San Bernardino, California. Laura lived most of her life in Yucaipa, California.
Laura was involved in Brownies, Girl Scouts and the 4H Club. Laura and her horse"Amigo" entered many gymkhana events. She was also a champion barrel racer. At age 16, Laura and her sister Sandy won a milking contest at the Los Angeles County Fair. As a result of that, they were invited to appear on the Steve Allen Show, to show him how to milk a cow. In 1964, Laura was the Rodeo Queen at the San Bernardino County Fair in Victorville, California. Laura attended Yucaipa High School, where she was active in several different clubs. Laura graduated with the Class of 1965.
Laura met her husband Benny when he returned from the service. They were married in 1967. Together they raised three boys and were very active in sports, especially Yucaipa Valley Little League, where Benny was a coach of several teams. Laura was one of the original group who started the "Let's Get a Ballpark" fund.
Laura was preceded in death by her husband Benny, son Tommy, her parents Cliff and Bea Harms and brothers "Sonny" Harms and John Albaugh. She is survived by two sons Ben Dean and Mike (Renee) Dean both of Yucaipa, California; sisters Sandy Johnson and her husband Doug of Redlands, California and Bunny Albaugh of Yucaipa, California; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces as well as many friends.
Visitation Friday, March 27, 2015 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Weaver Hughes Mortuary, 33629 Yucaipa Blvd, Yucaipa, California. Funeral service Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 1:00pm at Bryant Street Baptist Church, 13446 Bryant Street, Yucaipa, California. Interment Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, California.
Arrangements were entrusted to Weaver Hughes Mortuary, Yucaipa, California.
