Roland Getz, passed into the care of His Savior on Sunday, February 7, 2021 at the age of 86. He was born on December 14, 1934 to Edward and Josephine (Rosenbaum) Getz in Mansfield, Ohio. He served stateside in the army following graduation from Mansfield Senior High in 1952. Roland then joined his brothers in their father’s construction company, Getz Builders, for a few years before developing the Roland Getz Construction Company, which specialized in commercial excavation and road building. It was during that time that he built the Holiday Lakes development in Huron County, Ohio. He then ventured into coal strip mining and received an award for restoration of the land after strip mining. By the early 70’s, Roland moved his family to Scottsdale, Arizona where he designed, patented, and manufactured several components found helpful in the asphalt recycling and road paving industry through his company called Getz Recycle Inc. He later relocated the business in Missouri until retiring back in Peoria, Arizona in 2017.
He is survived by his wife of 13 years Shirley Getz; his children Greg (Cynthia) Getz of Grand Junction, CO; Jeff (Robyn) Getz of Phoenix, Az; Gale (Tony) Holloman of Wilmington, DE; Susan (Darrell) Lucas of Maize, Ks; and Rob (Christy) Getz of Chandler, AZ; Shirley’s daughters, Dawn (David), Rosslyn (Steve), Treva, and Kari; 31 grandchildren; and
15 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at 6:00 pm at Immanuel Gardens, 11295 N. 99th Ave., Peoria Arizona, in the Arizona room of The Gardens complex.
