June 21, 1914 - October 19, 2014
Lucille was called home on Sunday, October 19, 2014 at the age of 100 years. In her passing, Lucille is reunited with her beloved late husband Bernard (1964), parents Magdelen (1954) and Frank Moran (1947), brothers and sisters Raymond (1994), Angeline Berlinger (1975), Francis (1977), Bernard (1998), Marie Berry (2003), Reta Tamburo (2000), Elizabeth Richard (2008), Bernice Ohlert (2010), and granddaughter Michelle (Bill) McDonough (2010). Lucille was born as the 3rd oldest of 9 children in Detroit, Michigan on June 21, 1914 to Magdelen and Frank Moran. She came of age during the Great Depression and although times were tough, Lucille developed a great sense of humor from being surrounded by her large and loving family who always found a way to have fun. Shortly after their marriage in 1936, Lucille and Bernard moved to Centerline, Michigan where Lucille worked for 12 years at the Post Office and earned the honor of becoming Centerline's first female Assistant Post Master during her tenure. Lucille and Bernard moved to Roseville, Michigan where Bernard died in 1964 and Lucille worked for Detroit Bank & Trust for 22 years before her retirement in 1979. Although Lucille had downsized and returned to Centerline to live for many years, she moved out of her home while in her 80's to spend winters with her daughter's family in Las Vegas and summers with her son's family in Alger, Michigan and ultimately relocated permanently to sunny Arizona when both her son and daughter moved there. Lucille spent her final year with daily visits from family and in the loving care of the wonderful staff at Phoenix Mountain Nursing Center in Phoenix, Arizona. Lucille will be remembered for her devout Catholic faith and her life-long membership in the Daughters of Isabella and St. Clement Rosary Altar Society of Centerline, as well as her generous nature. So many of our family and friend's homes are blessed with the countless crocheted and knitted treasures that she lovingly created for us through the years. "Grandma Lucy" (as many of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren referred to her) sparkled at our many family gatherings including her recent 100th Birthday Party, and all of us treasure the memories of the amazing stories and great jokes she told as well as her spirited competition in a good card or dice game. Lucille will be greatly missed by her son Ronald (Sharon) of Surprise, AZ and Alger, MI and her daughter Linda (Richard) Wright of Phoenix, AZ and Las Vegas, NV. She was dearly loved by her surviving grandchildren Lisa (Greg) Riley, Kim (Lindsay) Levine, Becky Wright, Lauri (James) Perdue, Scott (Lidia) Wright and Jeff Wright. Lucille is fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews and twelve great grandchildren. The family invites you to contact them for details of Lucille's funeral mass and celebration of life. Lucille will be laid to rest beside her late husband at St. Clement Catholic Cemetery in Centerline, Michigan. Condolences may be left for the family at www.advantagefunerals.com.
