Kathryn "Katie" A. Schmidgall

"Katie" was born July 24, 1935 in Elgin, Illinois to Albert Scheitlin and Anna Foell Scheitlin. She graduated from Elgin High School with the class of 1953. Soon after graduation, she went to work at a department store in Elgin.

On September 7, 1957, Katie married the love of her life, Albert "Abe" Schmidgall. Katie & Abe began their married life in Elgin, Illinois and later moved to Glendale, AZ. Abe was an engineer for the City of Phoenix and Katie was a homemaker, a job she loved. He preceded her in death in July 2010. Prior to Abe's death, he and Katie enjoyed many mutual friendships, but mostly loved being with one another. Although Abe & Katie did not have children of their own, they did have nieces and nephews they adored and were grateful for their kindness and care towards them.

Katie grew up in a Christian home. She knew and loved the Lord. One of Katie's favorite hobbies was collecting special porcelain dolls. She kept them pristine and thoroughly enjoyed displaying her treasures.

Besides her husband, Katie was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Doris Mangold Rocke, and Marian Schumacher and one brother, Robert Scheitlin. Surviving siblings are Albert Scheitlin of Elgin, Illinois and Carol J. Sinn of Fort Scott, KS.

Katie will be laid to rest on Monday, January 18, 2021, 1:00pm at Sunland Cemetery next to her beloved husband.
