With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Kate Romero, a loving and devoted mother and friend to all whose lives she touched, on July 22, 2023. She left us while sleeping peacefully at her residence. She was born on March 16, 1941, a daughter to the late Emil and Della Romero.
Kate was known for her loving, kind, and blunt nature, radiating a unique warmth that made anyone feel special. She was an immeasurable source of strength, support, and wisdom, steadfast in her love for her family and friends. She lived her life as an example of generosity, prayerfulness, and fierce advocacy for the underdog.
She worked at the Sawmill in McNary, AZ while attending night school at NPC for Carpentry, Construction and Welding She later went on to work as a Journeyman Carpenter, a Rodbuster. She worked as a waitress, a cashier and many other side jobs. She did whatever it took to take care of her family. Family was everything to her.
Kate's greatest accomplishments were undeniably her children, upon whom she bestowed the wisdom to "Let God Let Go". She wore her role as a mother like a badge of honor. Despite losing her beloved daughter Darlene Romero prematurely, her love and wisdom live on in her daughters, Kathleen Elwood and Carlene Burlison.
She was predeceased by her beloved father, Emil, her caring mother, Della, her cherished daughter, Darlene, and her 3 beloved grandchildren, 2 sisters and 1 brother. Their memories were always close to her heart and she now joins them in eternal peace.
Kate's generous love and legacy live on in her surviving family. She is survived by her daughters, Kathleen Elwood (Jay) and Carlene Burlison (Ron), whose lives have been enriched and shaped by their mother's love. Her grandchildren Ashley, James and Emily Elwood, and Owen and Dale Burlison, and her great grandchildren, Jayleen, James Elwood, Juxta Burlison will remember their grandmother as a paragon of love, kindness, and generosity. She taught them to live prayerfully, these lessons becoming an indelible part of their character. She is also survived by 4 sisters and 1 brother.
Kate's spirit, her love, and the lessons she imparted will continue to live on through her daughters, her grandchildren, and every life she touched. We will remember Kate as a beacon of strength and resilient love - a positive force who encouraged all to seek the goodness in life and in people. She is dearly missed, but we are comforted by the knowledge that her influence and teachings live on in those who knew and loved her.
In dealing with our loss, we would like to remember Kate as she was - loving, strong, and truer than true - to honor her memory and keep alive the lessons she left behind.
