Jonathan was born in Los Angeles, California but moved with his parents and siblings to Arizona in 1996 to establish a new church in the cities of Phoenix and Glendale. He graduated high school, worked for the City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation department, graduated with a B.A. from Arizona State University with honors, all the while serving as a worship leader at his family church Mi Gracia Salva.
Jonathan’s first love was music. He played the piano with grace and beauty at every church service, dedicating his life to only serving God by ministering to others through worship and praise. He selflessly trained others to worship God through the gift of music and taught church followers to seek holiness through biblical scripture.
He was a devoted son to his parents who raised him to be a God-fearing man that epitomized faithfulness towards friends, family and above all else, God.
Jonathan will be lovingly remembered by his Father, Edwin Portillo, his Mother, Edith Portillo, Brother Edwin Portillo Jr., Sister Janice Portillo, Sister-in-law Urania Portillo, his loving Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and many great friends.
We know that Jonathan is now in the presence of our Lord God Almighty worshipping Him for all eternity and is loved here on earth as well as in heaven.
