On May 30, 1936, Tom was born in Brooklyn, New York to his parents Mark and Catherine Geriak. Tom spoke fondly of his Brooklyn youth, spending the days with his brother Jim, playing baseball, basketball, and street hockey. He graduated from Brooklyn Technical High School and St. Francis College. He married Barbara, also from Brooklyn, in 1965.
Following his brother to Southern California, Tom and Barbara settled into his new life teaching math and coaching baseball and basketball. As a life- long educator, Tom reached many lives, teaching geometry for the Anaheim School District for thirty-eight years at Cypress and KateIla High Schools. They raised three children in Placentia, where he resided for 56 years.
Tom was an avid sports fan, passionate about coaching baseball, basketball, and soccer, as well as rooting for his Lakers, Clippers, Angels, and whatever teams his children or grandchildren were playing for. During his retirement years, Tom enjoyed his grandchildren's activities, family gatherings, and lively discussions over bagels and coffee with his dear friends. He was a kind soul who took great pride in his family.
Tom is survived by his wife Barbara; son Mark and his wife Amy, daughter Kathleen and her husband Cesar, daughter Mary Anne and her husband Mark, grandchildren Claire, Will, Grace, Robert, Abigail and Isabelle; sister- in-law Sue and brother-in-law Eddie; nieces and nephews Cate, Christine, Tim, Matt and Andy.
There will be a private celebration of life on his birthday.
