Georgia Woodward, age 93, long time Southern California resident passed away peacefully on December 11, 2022. She was born in Superior Wisconsin on December 17, 1928. She attended Belmont High School in Los Angeles. She met Mel Woodward while working for the Boy of Scouts America. He told her he always wanted to date a red head! They were married on June 18, 1948 and enjoyed 68 years of marriage. She would say he was the best man ever!
After raising 2 daughters and 2 sons, she went back to school and graduated from California State University, Fullerton in 1973. She taught school for many years in the Fullerton School District..
Eventually she and Mel were able to travel the world together. They ran 3 marathons. They were interested in genealogy and traveled to find interesting history about their ancestors. They were National Park Rangers for 8 summers all across the United States. She was always willing to try new adventures and had stories to tell!
Georgia loved spending time with her family, camping in their motor home with their friends, Bible study and her church. She loved angels, going to the grandkids’ sports games and activities, basketball, George Jones and country and bluegrass music, hymns, and praise music. She was always amazed at how beautiful the world was!
She was the matriarch of the family and the glue that held the family together..She will be greatly missed by her daughter Nancy and husband David, son Gary and his wife Karen, daughter Lauren and her husband Bill, and son Mark and his wife Konnie. Along with 8 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild.
Georgia loved Jesus and prayed that everyone she knew and others would come to have a saving relationship with the Lord. We will all miss her funny sense of humor, her positive attitude and the love she gave to all of us who loved her. We know she is in Heaven with Jesus and is dancing with her husband and the Angels!
She will be interred at Riverside National Cemetery and will be reunited with her husband, Mel, the love of her life! A “Celebration of Life” service will be held on January 25, 2023 at 1:00 pm at Eastside Christian Church, 3330 E. Miraloma Ave, Anaheim. (714) 871-6844 The family encourages attendees to wear Georgia’s favorite color, pink or bright colors.
In lieu of flowers gifts may be made in Georgia’s name to the American Cancer Society.
