Dale began life in Buffalo, New York where he attended PS 65, Riverside High School and the University of Buffalo where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. Dale married his high school sweetheart, Leeanna (Lee) Hereid, and took her on an adventure that lasted over 61-years.
Dale and Lee moved to Orange County, California on their wedding day where his career in engineering, aerospace and semi-conductors lasted for the next 32-years. After retiring his focus transitioned to his love of videography. For the next 20+ years he managed video and/or sound for special events at Messiah Lutheran Church, the Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum, the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District and most importantly his granddaughter’s soccer games.
Together Dale and Lee traveled to 33 countries and all 50 U.S. states, combining their love of jazz, photography, video, and a passion for learning about different cultures into their travels. When not traveling or in his office indulging his lifelong love of trains and a recent reignited interest in philately, Dale could be found sitting in his favorite seat in the front window of his home waiving to his neighbors on their daily walks.
Dale’s love of his family and faith were paramount. He and Lee have been members of Messiah Lutheran Church for 53-years. Dale is survived by three wonderful children Jennifer, Jeffrey and Jason, daughter-in-law Paige, two beloved granddaughters, Alexandria and Madeline, and the most recent joy, two great-grandchildren Brixton and Reagan.
A celebration of Dale’s life will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at 10:30am at Messiah Lutheran Church (4861 Liverpool Street, Yorba Linda, CA 92886), followed by a reception in the church’s Joy Center.
A special thank you to all who have shared their sympathy, love, and prayers for Dale’s family.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Messiah Lutheran Church or a charity/cause of your choice.
