William Mackenzie Snyder, 80, of Southport, N.C., formerly of Yonkers, died on Tuesday December 13, 2011 at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Lifecare Center in Wilmington. Mr. Snyder was born in Yonkers on October 9, 1931, son of the late John B. and Barbara Mackenzie Snyder. He had worked for the Westchester County Board of Elections and was a supporter of the ASPCA. Mr. Snyder was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was preceded in death by his son, William Snyder, Jr. in 1971. Survivors include his wife Ann Marie Powers Snyder of Southport, three daughters, Mary Jane Paletta and Susie Snyder both of Carmel and Kerry Waldron of Jefferson Valley, N.Y. and ten grandchildren. Memorial visitation will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Saturday January 7th from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. A memorial service will be held at 7:30 PM.
