Thomas James Turner, affectionately known as TT or Tommy, was born on May 15, 1941, in Rayville, Louisiana. He was the son of the late Charlie Turner Sr and Mary Murray Turner. He was the 2nd son to this union.
In the late 60's, he moved to Yonkers, NY where he met the love of his life, Bertha Reed. With this union, on June 4, 1976, he got married and started a family, bearing 2 beautiful kids- Antoinette and Anthony.
Tommy worked in Construction for many years and later as a Security Guard with Effective Securites Co. He was loved by many and had a friendly smile for EVERYONE! He LOVED visiting his South Carolina family, Hanging with his Buddies on "Sugar Hill" joking and laughing, Watching his "Shoot Em Up" movies, Daily visits to the Local Lottery distributor who knew him by name and what he played, He loved to Grill and Garden while sipping on a Budweiser and Talking on the phone to family and friends for hours. T.T. was a family man that provided and instilled Love, Respect, and Values. He was a Great Man, Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, In- Law and Friend.
Thomas leaves us to cherish his memories a devoted, loving wife, Bertha R. Turner, Daughter, Antoinette T. Fields, Son, Anthony D. Turner (Monica), Granddaughters, Jessica and Niya Fields, Grandsons, Anthony D. Turner Jr and Darell Hazel Jr. ( South Carolina), Sister, Stacey Turner Kennedy (Louisiana), (Step) Brother Jimmie Ingraham, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Thomas was proceeded in death by his parents Charlie Sr. and Mary Turner; Step mother, Hattie Turner; Brothers, A.Z. Turner, Vestee Turner, Charlie Turner Jr.; Sisters, Deborah Turner, Vickey Turner; (Step) Siblings, Rhoda Humphrey, Lydia F. Johnson, and Emanuel Rainwater.
On June 7, 2023, God called for his soul to Rest in Power and Peace.
Visiting hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Tuesday 4-8pm. A Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday June 14th at 11am. Interment will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery
