Pauline Amicone died peacefully on December 7, having just turned 93 years old. A Yonkers resident for 64 years, she was predeceased by the love of her life, her husband Angelo, and by her sister Catherine Wasp and her brother Joseph Tavolacci. She is survived by her children Phil, Rosalie and Russell, her daughters-in-law Kay and Cheryl, her son-in-law Ron Pollini, and her sister Mary Pinto. She was a wonderful grandmother to Joe, Brendan, Matt, Allison, Cassie, Brianna, Alexandra and William. She was an equally terrific great-grandmother to Julia, Ryan, Caroline, Colin, Connor and Madelyn, and was crazy about them all. Born in the Bronx on December 3, 1922 to Rosalie and Russell Tavolacci, she graduated from Cathedral High School, and then went on to business school and a career in business. After helping raise her sisters and brother, she married and had a family of her own. Forever thirty-nine years old, she was an avid gardener and a long-time member of the Rosary Society at Immaculate Conception Church in Tuckahoe. She thoroughly enjoyed crocheting with the ladies at the Coyne Park Senior Center where she made blankets for veterans and the elderly. She loved to travel, to read and to sew. But what she loved most in her life was her family. Just to see or speak to her children, grandchildren or great-grandchildren made her day and theirs. Easy to talk to and always a good listener, she will be missed and forever loved. Family and friends may visit Thursday, 7-9 p.m. and Friday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at Whalen and Ball Funeral Home, 168 Park Avenue, Yonkers. A funeral Mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Church, Rt 22, Tuckahoe at 10:30 on Saturday. Interment Holy Mount Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105 or the Wounded Warrior Project, P. O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675.
