Mary Sarich, age 88, died on October 13th at Northern Westchester Hospital in Mt. Kisco. Born to the late John and Eva (Elko) Schurick on June 30, 1926 in Yonkers, NY, where she was a lifelong resident, she moved to Yorktown Heights with her husband Peter in September 2013. She married Peter Sarich on May 14, 1949 at St. Michaels Ukrainian Catholic Church in Yonkers where she was a communicant. She graduated from the Yonkers High School of Commerce in 1944. She was a volunteer and then employed by the Yonkers Board of Education as a school library aid at P.S #25 until she retired in 1983 after over 15 years of service. She is survived by her beloved daughter Sandra Ruyack and son-in-law Ray Ruyack of Brewster, NY, and her two grandchildren; Alex Ruyack of Ithaca, NY and Amanda Ruyack of Brewster. She is also survived by her brother Nickolas Schurick of Yonkers. She was predeceased by her husband Peter, her three sisters, Rose Grabowicz, Catherine Macko and Ann Schurick all of Yonkers, as well as four brothers; Andrew, Peter, Michael & John. She is survived by many nieces and nephews as well as grand nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on
Thursday 2-4 & 6-8pm. Parastas Thursday 7:45pm. Funeral Service will be held in St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church on Friday October 17th at 10am. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery.
