Mary Kantor (nee Romaniec), a longtime Yonkers resident, died on Friday July 7, 2017 at her residence. She was 91 years old. She was born on February 1, 1926 to George and Susan Deso Romaniec in Osceola Mills, PA where she was raised and educated. She was a longtime parishioner of Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Church where she was a member of the Ladies Guild and a soprano in the church choir. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, dancing, singing and entertaining friends and family. She met the love of her life, Russell Kantor in Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Church where they were later married on October 24, 1948. Mr. Kantor died on March 23, 2010. Survivors include one son, Greg Kantor and his wife, Julie of LaGrangeville, NY and one daughter, Arlene Kantor of Poughkeepsie. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Kristin, Amy, Megan, Jansen and Elizabeth and three great grandchildren, Peyton, Andrew and Matthew. She was predeceased by three brothers and three sisters. Our family is forever grateful to Judith Hedlam for her many years of dedicated and loving service. “Mom was a little, spunky lady, full of love. She will be greatly missed by everyone.” Visiting hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Monday 4-8pm with the Pannakhyda Service at 7pm. Funeral Service will be held in Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Church on Tuesday July 11th at 10am. Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
