Martin D. Peterson, a lifelong Yonkers Resident, died Saturday Jan.13, 2018 at Montefiore Hospital. He was 65 yrs. old. He was born on April 8, 1952 to Charles & Helen Monahan Peterson in Yonkers where he was raised and educated, graduating from Saunders Trade & Technical School. Mr. Peterson was a printing Supervisor for the City of Yonkers for 15 yrs. until his retirement in 2014. Previously, he was a self-employed printer for Action Press for 10 yrs. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army from 1970 to 1972 and was stationed in Korea. Mr. Peterson was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church. He was a Eucharistic Minister at church, was a past president of the Yonkers Boy’s and Girl’s Club, and a member of the Amackassin Club and a member of the Yonkers Yacht Club. He was a Longtime Tennis Prayer, an avid golfer and most recently enjoyed boating. On Feb. 17, 1989, he married his loving wife Claire Barca in Sacred Heart Church. Mrs Peterson survives & lives in Yonkers. In addition to his wife, he is survived by 3 sons, Marty Peterson and his wife Angela, Jay McLynn and his wife Andrea, and Brian McLynn and his wife Michelle. He is also survived by his sister, Margaret Thomas of Yonkers and 7 Grandchildren. He is predeceased by his brother Charles Peterson. Visitation will be Monday, January 15 from 2 pm - 4 pm & 7 pm – 9 pm at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Sacred Heart Church on Tuesday January 16th at 10:30 am. Cremation to follow at Ferncliff Crematory, Hartsdale NY.
