Martin J. Farrell of Yonkers died on Monday March 29, 2010 at age 82. Born on September 14, 1927 to Martin and Catherine (Scott) Farrell in Yonkers where he was raised and graduated from Gorton High School. Mr. Farrell was a Yonkers firefighter for over 34 years serving as an arson investigator retiring in 1993. He was a World War II Navy veteran. On September 7, 1947, he married Catherine Gableman in St. Peter’s Church. She survives living in Yonkers. Martin was a parishioner of Christ the King Church and a member of the Police/Fire Retired Association. Besides his wife Catherine, he is survived by his four children, Patricia (Joseph) De’Angelis of Croton, Martin (Mary) Farrell of Toms River, Raymond (Jane) Farrell of Yonkers and George (Lisa) Farrell of Dobbs Ferry. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren and two sisters, Janet Vandergriff and Mildred Bera. He was pre-deceased his sister Marie Hrynko. Visiting Hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Blessing and Liturgy of the Word will be held in Christ the King Church on Friday April 2nd at 10 AM. Interment Mt. Hope Cemetery.
