She was born on April 26, 1928 to George and Millie Kratz McCarthy in the Bronx where she was raised and educated graduating from Immaculate Conception School in 1939. Miss McCarthy was a receptionist for Dr. Goldstein in the Bronx for about forty years until her retirement in 1960. She was a longtime parishioner of the Monastery Church of the Sacred Heart in Yonkers and previously of St. Peter & Paul Church and Immaculate Conception Church both in the Bronx. She enjoyed flowers, animals, family and church and was a fan of both the Yankees and the Giants. “She would give anything to anyone – she donated to all.” She is survived by two nieces, Barbara McCarthy of Yonkers and Jennifer McCarthy of Clifton, N.J., a nephew, Jeffrey McCarthy of Haledon, N.J., seven great nieces and nephews and fourteen great great nieces and nephews. Besides her parents George and Millie Kratz McCarthy, she was pre-deceased by 2 brothers, John Joseph McCarthy and George Frank McCarthy, a sister, Emilie Carlon McCarthy, a sister in law, Eileen McCarthy, a nephew, George McCarthy, a great nephew, John Paul Boyko and an aunt and uncle, Peggy and John Kratz. Visiting hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Sunday 3-7pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Monastery Church of the Sacred Heart on Monday November 11th at 9:30am. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
