Maria Luisa Antonio, a longtime Yonkers resident, passed away on September 13, 2017 at her home in Bethel, CT. She was a few days shy of her 94th birthday. She was born on September 18, 1923 to Herminia Pereira and Isaias Terceiro in Brazil but was raised in Portugal. On her 18th birhday, she married her beloved husband, Fernando Antonio. They were happily married for almost 70 years until he passed away on January 30, 2011. In 1965, they immigrated to the United States where they resided and worked in Yonkers for the majority of their lives. Their brave decision to move to America eventually provided dozens of other families the opportunity to also move to the United States to pursue the American Dream. Mrs. Antonio is survived by a son, Manuel Pereira Terceiro (Maria Fernanda) and a daughter, Maria Adelaide Vale (Carlos). She was pre-deceased by her beloved daughter Margarida Flavia Vaz-Pocas (Pedro). She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren. Visiting hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Friday from 5-9 pm. An Evangelical Ceremony will be held at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Saturday at 9:30 am. Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
